Hi There,

First of all, my English is not very well, so I will try to explain the best I can, I hope you understand me.

I have a recently acquired HP Proliant DL380G4, 2 Xeon 3.4 Processors, 2Gb RAM, 2 UltraSCSI 72 Gbytes disc (RAID 1), 2 HBA QL2312, 1 Extra Gigabyte Net Card.
This DL380G4 is intented to work with a MSA1500 and 2 MSA20 plenty of 250Gbytes SATA discs. I already have them installed.

1. I have installed Debian Sarge without any problem, on the server's room of my building, wich has a lot of racks and servers (not hp) running in it (Some Solaris, IBM Xseries, ACER, Fujitsu, etc). The temperature there is around 25-28 ºC, if I'm not wrong.

2. I have to compile the kernel with a vanilla kernel 2.6.12 or 2.6.13 to provide the HBA's module support, and some other things like SMP and that stuff.

3. Problem: At the moment the system begins to do some work, I have experienced problems with the temperature, and two different errors:
      a) Temperature Violation bla bla bla (5 minutes waiting or press Esc). Documentation tells it is caused for ambient temperature exceeded.
      b) Instant Shutdown (Temperature too)

4. Temperature in the room is 27 ºC. I have called the reseller technician. He is expert with windows. He suggests to make a windows installation and probe if it is caused by the system.

5. Windows increase speed of the fans (fans already checked by the technician), but waiting a little bit, shutdown due to thermal error, that is, the same problem.

6. We move the DL380g4 to another room. That new room is 22ºC.

7. Install Debian Sarge, and everything seems to work fine. I start to compile the kernel. Shutdown due to a thermal error.

8. I found this forum.

9. Seems that hpasm is the solution for me, it increases the fans and will let me watch the temp and fans with hpasmcli.  (I thank I will survive, finally).

10. I install hpasm on the DL380G4, and works fine, I think, but with ps -efm I found only one process...

11. 10 minutes ago, I have started to compile the kernel again, and the fans increase its speed to the maximum, but finally hpasm tell me the temperature has exceeded and I have decided to shutdown.

12. I feel very lost. The server seems to be ok (fans and other stuff), but it doesn't let me do anything.

¿Any ideas?
