ML370 as a "desktop server"?
« on: April 12, 2006, 10:35:30 am »

Hello,

I'm interested in a ML370 maschine for a small office. Does anyone know how loud this machine is?

Hello,

Unless you manage to install the HPASM utilities, I don't think you'll want to put up with the noise Smiley

So far I have only been able to do this with Debian Sarge. I have been trying to make it work with Ubuntu (6.06 or the upcoming 6.10) without much luck.

If you plan to use Ubuntu, perhaps also leave a note in these forums about it.

I would agree - the noise level is high even with the BIOS setting at "normal"......

....but, with hpasm installed using HPasm-rpm2deb-sarge-0.2.sh the reduction in noise level is dramatic.  Installation is easy, and the results well worth the effort.
